jen and dogsChrys-haefen Kennels was established in the early 1960's and has been producing Champion Golden Retrievers, including multiple Best in Specialty winners, and wonderful family companions ever since. We take pride in breeding versatile dogs that obtain multiple titles including but not limited to, Conformation, Agility, Obedience, Field, Rally, Canine Good Citizen and Certified Therapy Dogs. Our main focus in our breeding program is to produce a healthy well tempered dog that lives a long happy life. The average life span of our dogs is 12 -15 years of age with a number of them living to 16 and 17 years of age! We are very proud of our dogs and their many accomplishments but above all…they are a welcome addition to a loving family.

Our Golden Retrievers are the 'English' type. To clarify this, they are usually lighter coloured (but we do not breed for colour), and more laid back than their 'American' type counterparts. They are by no means lazy, it just means that they have an off button and will happily go for a hike with you or watch TV; they just want to be with you. They are also bigger boned and have bigger, blockier heads.

In 1998, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels were added to our family when Rhiannon Halfmoon Chrys-haefen (Geordie) joined us and became Jennifer's constant companion. The Cavaliers have blended in very well with the Goldens as they are quite similar, just a smaller package. We have been fairly successful in the show ring with multiple championships being acquired, most notably, Can.Am.Ch.Chrys-haefen Sassafras. In addition to being Chrys-haefen's newest American champion, she also won an Award of Merit at the 2009 Regional Specialty. Being relatively new in the breed, we are very excited with the path that we are on! Jennifer is a member in good standing with the Golden Retriever Club of Canada, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club of Canada and a lifetime member of the Canadian Kennel Club.

All of our puppies, both Goldens and Cavaliers, are born and raised in our home, with lots of love and care. We have a number of children who are here regularly; you can see some of them in our many pictures of our dogs, so the puppies are very comfortable in many situations. Please have a look around our web site and if you have any questions or comments we welcome your phone call or e-mail. We are also very happy to make an appointment for you to come out and have a look at our dogs in person.

ATTENTION OWNERS OF PUPPIES PURCHASED IN 2010

While parked in a parking structure behind a Toronto area hospital in August, Opal's van was broken into and they took her briefcase. All of the puppy record books were in there and are now gone. If you purchased a puppy from us we need you to contact us in order for us to get our records back in order and to ensure that you receive the registration papers as required. opal@chrys-haefen.com All records prior to this are on our computer. at the Southwestern Sporting Dog Specialty June 28, 2009 under respected American Sporting Dog judge Michael Faulkner. There was a breed entry of 44 Golden Retrievers. Chance is a litter mate to Laila.

Chrys-haefen Quite By Chance, Jade, is our newest champion. She was able to do so in a sort of 'hairless' fashion too! Lot to be said for good structure!

We are proud to announce that Ch. Chrys-haefen Sassafras (Sassy) obtained her American championship with a 4 point major! Thank you to Jill Taylor for showing Sassy! Additionally, Sassy won an Award of Merit at the Regional Specialty under respected breeder judge Mr. Norman Patton with Jennifer on the end of the lead. Way to go Sassy!
